The Money Philosophy series is a segment where we explore the emotional, cultural, and existential side of money. Think of it as an anthropology of personal finance going against the idea that money should only be practical, not personal. Because a lot of the time our financial decisions aren’t just about numbers—they’re shaped by the lives we’ve lived, the beliefs we hold, the identities we carry, and the futures we imagine for ourselves.
We’re looking for young Gen Z women and non-binary baddies (roughly ages 18–27)—though we’re open to slightly outside this range too. Every kind of experience is welcome: growing up with scarcity or privilege, supporting family, navigating debt, building wealth, dealing with instability, or just figuring it out as you go.
Interested in being interviewed? Fill out this form and we’ll reach out to schedule a time!
How it works:
- Interviews are casual, 40-60 minutes over Zoom or Google Meet.
- We do a light vetting process (usually a LinkedIn review—though it’s okay if you don’t have one).
- You’ll never see your actual name published. Interviews are completely anonymous, so you can be candid without fear of any personal or professional consequences. We also allow interviewees to obscure their locations and any identifiable factors.
- Past interviews have opened up about everything from parental conflicts and family bankruptcy to homelessness, career leaps, and financial turning points so anonymity is something we prioritize to make sure everyone feels comfortable opening up!
Even if you feel you don’t have your finances figured out yet your perspective could help shape how others understand money, beyond just as dollars and cents, but as a deeply human story : )
